"You're a pig and a liar to boot...McCain never said any such thing.."

By implication he did.

"I am grateful for the fact that I have a wonderful life," McCain said. "I spent some years without a kitchen table, without a chair, and I know what it's like to be blessed by the opportunities of this great nation."

And his campaign tried to cover over the houses issue by pointing out something along the lines of "for 5 1/2 years, McCain only had one house, in prison".

Now, if both aren't trying to say that McCain paid his dues and his hard to quantify number of dwellings isn't his due, then why flash the POW card when the issue came up? Is there some other linkage between being a POW and having enough houses to make a small neighborhood?
