Interesting how hard it is to find any credible information or discussion about the Kosovo story. Friedman and Stratfor is a credible source. I never understood the necessity of bombing Serbia back in 1999 - clearly, the problem - to the extent that it actually existed - could have been handled differently.

Pushing Kosovo towards independence - and recognizing it in a great hurry earlier this year - appears to have been a terrible idea. They had de facto independence already, no one was attacking them - why not leave them under nominal Serbian jurisdiction? Why break the post WWII principle of border stability - and do so without a meaningful reason? Now it's Abkhazia and S. Ossetia - who will be next to claim independence based on this precedent?
