Geoff, it's just part of a long line of foreign policy disasters that we've seen over the last 7.5 years.

Russia was actually willing to work with us to an extent when Bush came in, but now they're saying that a renewal of the Cold War would be acceptable to them. They've gone into Georgia, they're threatening to bomb Poland and they are making deals to supply both Syria and Iran with their most sophisticated missiles.

In 2001, N. Korea had maybe 2 nukes and their nuclear program was in pretty low gear. Today, they have maybe 8 nukes and right now they are threatening to start producing plutonium again.

In 2000 we came pretty close to a peace deal between Israel and Palestine. Today, Gaza is totally controlled by Hamas and Lebanon is pretty much controlled by Hezbollah.

In 2000, Iran had a fairly 'moderate' President (for them) and after 9/11 they went through diplomatic channels to request talks with the U.S. Today, Iran is being run by Adaminanutjob and they are increasing their ability to make nuclear weapon grade uranium by the day.

In 1991 we were able to get most of the World to back us in attacking Iraq. Today, we can't even get our own NATO partners to realistically back us in Afghanistan.
