LDK Solar lifts 3rd-quarter revenue forecast due to greater-than-expected shipments

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Solar wafer maker LDK Solar Co. Ltd. raised its third-quarter estimates Wednesday, saying revenue and shipments exceeded expectations.

The Xinyu City, China, company said its revenue will be between $530 million and $540 million, and it shipments had a total capacity of 230 megawatts to 240 megawatts. The company had expected $486 million to $496 million in sales, with combined capacity of 210 megawatts to 220 megawatts.

On average, analysts expect $470.3 million in revenue, according to Thomson Reuters. LDK is scheduled to report its third-quarter results on Nov. 10.

LDK also said it reached 1.2 gigawatts of production capacity by the end of the quarter. That had been its goal for the end of 2008.
