Russia is no better or worse and from a geopolitical perspective smaller in importance than Indonesia, Italy, and for sure Brazil not to mention few other countries which are more populous or have a higher GDP. Why give Russia - a failing economic state, more credence like let say China or India or Germany or France or Japan or... ….. just because the Russian Mafia controls Russia Government and their nuclear weapons? Latest actions in Georgia proved that Russia leadership thinking is, as it was 50 or 300 or 500 years ago - achieving economic prowess based on pillaging other countries, oppression of other nations and so on, in their ever expanding self-defined "sphere of influence" with classic imperialistic drive and cruelty only experienced trough the invasions of the Mongols or early Ottomans. Where in the world unarmed citizen were murdered just because they where Georgians and the lucky ones closed in a cage in the city center to be tortured and humiliated by Russian tugs to the delight of the local inhabitants at large? – is this a conduct of a honorable army to be respected or a assemblage of plain tugs and cruel criminals under Oprichnina ideology and uniform, from the middle ages? Russian where given a chance to join the world civilized nations and their desire was to dictate to others how and what to do, well beyond their role as an economic contributor to world prosperity and social fabric. (Serbia / Yugoslavia under Tito was USSR nemesis and they hated them - so any pretense of Russia being allies to the Serbs as a nation is a classic lie - yes they where allies of the tugs in the previous Serbian Government at the time, whose members where indicted in THE Hague Tribunal!!) Just read and study how Russian army achieved “quiet” in Chechnya and it was only because no one in NATO, Western World or even India or China or S. America gave a dam about the Chechen people …. and the list is too long!! You obviously never lived under Russian occupation or under a Russian puppet regime, so before answering to my post better hit the history books and learn something and please read editions form several countries not to be blinded by “political bias”
