Good post, GZ. No one ever knows how they would have reacted to being in McCain's pow situation. Those that are hyper critical about that portion of his life are about two ranks below a shitheel. The rest of his record and life is fair game. I'll never forget something that I thought for just a fraction of second while serving on a US warship in the eastern Med....I was sleeping when a russian voice came over the sound system and my flash reaction was "F@%K, we've been boarded"....quickly followed by I have no value as a prisoner. All that passed as the grog of sleep wore off and it turned out that it was the commodore of fleet cussing out the Russians for what he thought was poor sailing habits. It's a pure wonder that there were not multiple collisions of opposing warships in those days. Pretty damned easy to be brave sitting at a keyboard.
