I kind of agree with this; I think it would be an extraordinarily positive event for a black man (or woman) to be elected president.

But there is a huge danger there -- if we elect one who is either incompetent for the job or too extreme for the masses, we run the risk of setting back race relations in this country for a very long time.

Would you support Alan Keyes for president? I wouldn't. Too extreme. Obama, same thing (except he is much more extreme than Keyes).

But if we elected a Colin Powell or Harold Ford or Condi Rice or another moderate black, that would be a HUGE step forward for our country.

The Dems missed a huge opportunity when Harold Ford lost his Senate race. But the reality is that the Dems didn't WANT him to win that race.

Michael, personally I think Obama is better for blacks than Hillary is for women, partly because Hillary is so phony.

By the way, I hear last night she took credit for the prosperity of the 90's. True story.
