It is admirable that he apologized. That must have been difficult. I've noticed that he is not averse to admitting when he is wrong about something then doing what is needed in an attempt to put things right. That is a rare quality to find in high level leadership where people are so protective of their reps and egos.

McCain long ago apologized to the Clintons and has dealt directly with Chelsea over this. The Clintons don't hold any ill will toward McCain over it. Some people can't accept this.

Did I say that Clinton's flaw was ok? See my other post to less. I think everyone has at least one huge flaw; Clinton's was infidelity. We need to decide if that one huge flaw is something that will affect that leaders ability to govern.

George Washington was aloof, and he was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. John Adams was grating and obnoxious. Thomas Jefferson was vain and his religious beliefs were anti-Christian, for the times.

Let's assume that every president also suffered from a huge inflated ego - why on earth would anyone take the job otherwise?

The issue is not necessarily character, it is whether a president's character flaw(s) are something that interfere with their ability to run the country.

The question that everyone must ask themselves is, do the flaw they perceive in the candidates affect their leadership? To me, making a nasty joke about a teenager is offensive, but if that were his only flaw, I could probably live with it. However, the pattern of nastiness and anger, along with his advanced age, lead me to believe he is too flawed for the job.
