Ann: Putin paid attention to GW until the last few mos of the latter's adm. Why did Putin wait until Bush's last few mos to invade Georgia?...Answer: Vladimir realized the opportunity would disappear once Pres McCain is breathing down his neck. koan: It is more likely Putin thinks Obama will be elected. He has been leading in the polls and Obama is much more liked overseas than McCain. So from Putins persective Obama is more likely the guy he will have to contend with. You are making a big mistake if you think Putin is afraid of McCain. He just stuck a thumb in the eye of the Bush, Cheney team. And he is humiliating Bush and Cheney right now and there is nothing they can do. Putin is not afraid of either Obama or McCain as there is nothing we can do given the last 8 years of the bush policies. Our military is exhausted, we are broke, our economy is in shambles and so Putin will assert his will and there is nothing we can do about it short of a thermonuclear war. What do you think we can do?
