What will McCain, as an ex-bomber himself, do when he has all the new toys of Commander and Chief? All these stealth bombers, B-2 bombers that can roam the world undetected and bomb stuff? He'll be bombing every foreign policy hot spot!

The Dems need to strongly characterize him as a dangerous war monger with a temper who will bomb first and ask question later; a guy who will fly off the handle at the least provocation. The last guy in the world you need with his finger on the nuke button. They need to 'Goldwater' him.

Exactly...

Al

That's what they did with Reagan. We now know that Reagan was totally focused during his administration on eliminating the threat of nuclear weapons and eliminating the threat of the USSR and accomplished more toward that end than any president in history.

Just because the Dems say it doesn't make it so. Conservatives know that peace can happen only through military strength.

Throughout history no nation has ever been safe through weak negotiations. Negotiation works only when you have the power to back it up.

After thinking about your post, I realized the real meaning of it: What the Dems need to do is to lie like hell.

Forget the facts, they need to lie.

What would Rove do if he were advising Obama? Go after McCain's strength. The commander in chief thing.

They need to show his inconsistencies......what GOPers would call flip flopping.......there have been plenty. For an example, yesterday, I saw a clip from a few months ago where he said the most important thing in his pick for VP would be to insure that person was ready to take over in terms of national security and their experience level with national issues. And then he picks Palin who barely has local experience.

As a backdrop or overlay, they then need to show his reactions to certain situations......like yesterday, when Palin was speaking......the look on his face was so out of it.......or like when he was in front of that green wall with the goulish smile. Like with Bush, I don't get that all the dendrites in his brain are connecting and it shows very visibly on his face. They need to really play off the fact that his age is a serious factor in this race esp. now with a very inexperienced VP by his side. BTW it would very easy to make McCain and Palin look like an old guy with his nurse. That's what struck me when I saw them together.

The Dems need to strongly characterize him as a dangerous war monger with a temper who will bomb first and ask question later; a guy who will fly off the handle at the least provocation. The last guy in the world you need with his finger on the nuke button. They need to 'Goldwater' him.

I don't think people will believe this view. He comes off too nebbish and mild mannered.
