MJ, I can't recall any sociopaths/trolls that I've encountered on various message boards and blogs who ever showed any inclination to fit in. They seem to be attention-deprived and as such, thrive on getting their attention-needs met by being contentious, snotty, and in some cases, vile. Best to put them on Ignore -- it helps a lot but unfortunately doesn't block out the replies. Banning is the ultimate solution when it's used. I realize that what I've said has been stated a thousand times on SI. If only the Ignore solution were ever tried ... :) Two other possibilities -----laziness and a total disregard for protocols-----
