MO, this GDP number is complete bullshit.

The figures don't lie but the liars figure.

Thanks TH. I appreciate your take on things. I agree that the GDP was all BS, as well as all the Govt. numbers are.

They just don't seem to be anywhere near reality.

Glad you got that order out...<VBG>

Thanks again......ggersh

Annual (not annualized) current dollar GDP rate of change is around 4.2%. John Williams SGS CPI is over 12.7%.

Using it as a proxy for a real GDP deflator puts GDP at about minus 8.5%.

Re: This is just my opinion based solely on my own exposure to general sales at the company I work for.

IMO, this GDP number is complete bullshit."

Same here, We have been taking voluntary cut backs 3 out of the 5 day work weeks for our hourly employees and ask the ones who stay every hour if they changed their minds so they get multiple chances to leave early. A few weeks ago, that wasn't enough so we started mandatory 36 hour weeks instead of the 40.

We are cutting budgets anywhere we can. Times are tough and a lot of it is hidden. The company I work for is in elective recreation thus no "must buys" just fulfilling wants, not needs. In the past, there was always enough hard core customers that they kept expanding or at least idling with slight forward progress. No more. They just shut down operations at a major location for the first time ever.

I cant say who it is and it is by no means a huge company like GM but it is nation wide and ships overseas also. They have about 50 outlets and multiple warehouses and they are hurting. Heck I may be unemployed soon -NG- though I would just have more time to trade plus I have my retirement to fall back on. I feel sorry for the others that have nothing to fall back on and are living paycheck to paycheck.

Good Luck,

Lee
