A public education is guaranteed by our government.

By state governments yes. What's your point?

Are you saying that is not as important as universal health care?

I'm saying that neither is strictly speaking a public good. "Public good" is an economic term which has a specific meaning, it doesn't mean "anything that could be considered beneficial to the general public."

I'd also add that universal government provided health care is a questionable goal.

There is, in fact, universal food distribution, through food stamps and welfare.

That isn't "universal food distribution". That's food assistance for the poor (food stamps) and financial assistance for the poor (welfare). There is no universality about these programs, they don't include everyone, only a minority of the population.

If that was "universal food distribution", than we already have "universal health care", through Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, etc.

I was stating #2 on the assumption that the first condition was true

That assumption is begging the question. The debate is about whether we should have any such universal health care system.
