Z,

I think America does best when we have a President who can see it through the eyes of the middle class and not the underclass or overclass. I may be wrong about this (it wouldn't be the first time), but that is a the kind of a person who I think will most in tune with the rest of America and what it wants and needs. Neither candidate for President has that world view IMHO. McCain comes from a background of military Aristocracy and Obama, by his background of mixed race and single mom, has to have felt like an outsider a good deal of the time in his upbringing.

To compensate, Obama seeks to raise up that class he is/was from. It is a noble aspiration, but I do not think it is waht the country needs. Such aspirations in the past have led to bungled governmental programs that tried to throw money at the problems Obama sees and those programs failed.

Whereas Hillary Clinton's upbringing is/was about as middleclass as they come. She would have been a more "secure" President. One that didn't feel she had to "save the world" to be effective.

If you listen to Obama's rhetoric it is not unlike that of an evangical minister that calls you to be saved. This world vision in the white house can be dangerous.

I know you don't agree with this as you "worship" Obama (another trait common among his supporters) and this too worries me.

Middle class pragtism is what the country needs. A balanced budget and effetive goverenment programs --workfare not welfare), and a recognition that it is not our manifest destiny to spread democracy to every corner of the globe (McCain's fault).

So since I have to live with Obama it is my samll hope that we, his supporters, can tone done his vision and raiase his pragmatisim.

Vinter
