sit it out is a win for mccain. then again we often take a deep breath and vote for best alternative even though it doesn't give us everything we want.

you seem to be hung on pro choice .. She isn't going to change roe vs wade,, you have a democrat congress... no way could a president or vp change it. I also doubt they will get far right conservative on supreme court , it will have to be a compromise.. much better than having a congress that can do what it wants not subject to veto.. with a democrat president.

i guess we disagree.. on some women. some will stay away,, good, some will vote for her,, good, some will continue to vote democrat ticket.. but they would have anyway. nothing lost by picking her and everything gain by bringing back conservatives to vote in this election vs staying home.

ps a friend of mine (female) just returned from vacation in texas.. all her friends are democrats there and back in new england.. her sample was 14 voting republican 2 voting democrat. None were minorities.

I tend to disagree. The abortion issue is a hotbed here in Missouri - splitting the state. However, the radicals of either end never get anywhere - like everywhere else, it comes to the center to find the answers.

This is what I think will happen:

1. Roe vs. Wade will stand - it is now the law of the land and will be upheld. A constitutional ammendment will not pass.

2. What it does come down to is personal choice. BUT... late term abortion just because, will be considered murder by many average persons. Support for that will evaporate.

McCain could have attracted some disappointed Hillary voters with a moderate pro-choice woman VP, but I doubt he gets many with a staunch social conservative like Palin. We're talking about Hillary voters here. As in Hillary Clinton. Most will either sit it out, or suck it up and vote for Obama.

If they are one-issue voters, then no, they won't vote for this now very pro-life ticket. But many are not; many were already leaning to McCain. Those who were leaning that way may now jump and actually vote for McCain in November. It doesn't take that many to make a big difference, if they are in the right states.
