The investigation is all but over. If they can give a date like October 31 or whatever, they will just be preparing the reports. maybe an interview or two they couldn't get to for a variety of possible reasons.

The people most states use for what amounts to a State Commission of Investigation are generally retired investigators from various law enforcement agencies who answer to the legislature rather than the administration. It lends them a necessary degree of autonomy.

I doubt it will amount to much of a distraction, but very possibly could lead to the removal of the Trooper if the allegations are even half true.
