That's what I would aim for. The last night before there's certainty. e.g. last night.

If your're gonna ride it out, you'd need guns, generators, food, water, gasoline and preferably a power boat in all but the highest parts of New Orleans (those being Uptown and the French Quarter, areas that didn't flood during Katrina).

1-2 weeks without power, electricity and water in September in New Orleans is not a particularly appealing proposition.
