Uh, marble is harder than glass. When the Congress convened with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, she spoke with lots of grandkids around, talking about the "marble ceiling" that her election had broken.

And a "ceiling" that had been broken 24 years ago, by Ferraro, is not as high as one that Hillary was hoping to break, but only crackled (not cracked, IMO).

Maybe Palin meant that if McCain wins, then in 2012 the race could be Clinton v. Palin and then a woman would win. Is that "the surest way" she had in mind?
