I'm willing to say neither McCain nor Palin is ready to be president- if that makes you happy.

And she took on single handedly the corrupt Alaskan Republican establishment and won, at a far younger age than McCain's maverick moves.

Reading the blogs and journalist comments from Alaska itself, you get a different picture. Enough Alaskans were sick of the "ol' boy" Republican network that they would have elected a moose hunter who called himself Republican if that would have sufficed to get Murkowski and others out of office. Even Stevens and Young, icons of the state, are in trouble this year. She was running in the right year for an outsider to win. She "beat" the Republican establishment in Alaska with the help of Democrats and a few Republicans who weren't part of the ol' boy network. She didn't even have the political sense to actually refuse the Bridge to Nowhere money, as a thoughtful reformer with larger than Alaskan ambitions would have, IMO.
