BO's main achievement was talking his way onto Harvard Law Review and getting connected enough to rise inside the Chicago Machine - to become somebody that somebody sent, in local parlance. Plus genius self-promotion. I mean, credit where credit due.

Hillary's main achievement was a new form of tag-team politics with her husband. You're being a little unfair to her about the Rose Law Firm. Hillary is disciplined; she's a hard worker. I'm sure she really worked there and I know she published some legal articles on the legal status of children. But she should have made it explicit earlier, should have run for congress. This power-behind-the-throne stuff makes people uneasy.

Both Hillary and Obama are rather misfits for a political career, I'm thinking. Neither are naturals with the glad-handing people skills that Bill is so good at.

Obama has the character of a writer, a cool observer. Pity he didn't stick to that career because he would have made an excellent one.

Hillary should be a school chancellor, the commanding officer in mostly female hierarchy. Can't you see her there, in her element? But she learns. I was really surprised how good a candidate she became. But it was too late.

Sarah Palin, from all I can find out about her, seems to be a natural at politics.
