Agree about the spooky part. But not sure even duct tape is up to code for a cat 3/4, no matter what Red Green might have led you to believe. <g>

Don't mess around would be my advise, even a 1% chance is way stupid odds if a person can possibly afford otherwise ...

Are you in southern Lousiana BDBTR?? i have been listening to Ray Nagin call for mandatory evacuation of all of NOLA(via internet WWL).
i listened carefully to his words realizing he must be dramatic, so i tried to fix on the data points and based on real potential, the data he is giving calling for this to be greater danger than Katrina to be NOT wild scare tactics.
One, Gustav footprint is 900 miles versus Katrina's footprint of 400 miles, and Katrina was BIG.
Two as things stand NOLA will get the savage/wet side of the storm, and landfall of category 4 is a real possibity--even category 5.
There are no salvationary strong high pressure fronts moving in to blunt this storm.
The key is, bottomline, is he being responsible in painting a picture that says "Get-Out of NOLA".
i can not say he is not being responsible.

These matters are always tough calls, but the data is there where one must be ultra sure that one's locale is where one can weather this out.

He says he thinks 50% have already evacuated.
Though this evacuation is now mandatory for all of NOLA by noon tomorrow he said something that indicated there is no one staying behind to get people out that decide to stay.
He says all those that stay behind will be without help.
Only a skeleton crew of 50 people will remain.

i know nothing of this, but those on this thread must know what he is stressing about the Harvey Canal, his saying it is NOT finished, it has holes in it.

Gees, what is that about??Max
