It cracked me up to watch people call Saakashvili "stupid" for attacking Ossetia, and wonder why on earth he would do it. Obviously, Cheney & the Neocons goaded him to attack Ossetia. And just as obviously, Cheney was counting on the "opposition" to be easily manipulated into demonizing Russia.

What was a top national security aide to Vice President Dick Cheney doing in Georgia shortly before Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's troops engaged in what became a disastrous fight with South Ossetian rebels -- and then Russian troops?

Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain said he would be pushing for a thorough review of ties with Russia when he joins other EU leaders for an emergency summit meeting in Brussels on Monday.

In Germany, Eckart von Klaeden, a member of Parliament and an ally of Chancellor Angela Merkel's, said Russia should be suspended from the Group of 8 industrialized nations.
