There are 80 hour a week professionals who are great parents

I don't believe that. Not unless they have someone else picking up the load and they do a great job fulfilling a limited role.

And certainly not to assert that one who chooses a career must be a bad mother. It's plainly insulting.

Society judges drug addicts to be bad mothers. And unmarried mothers. And narcissists. And mothers of a dozen kids. Maybe some of them manage to be successful or get lucky, but it's hardly conducive.

Don't get me wrong. I would never interfere in a woman's choice. But I can sure advise caution.

Don't forget Nanny's;

One of my dearest friends is a Nanny. She spends about 8 hours a day with the little 18 months old. Erica teaches her so much. The birth mother is a pharmacist and that is a demanding job.

A Down Syndrome baby is another story however. I have not had experience rearing one but I know that they are dependent on you all of their life. There has to be someone to take care of them all the time.. That is heavy.
