I know, and it's also a mystery to me...

Pomp seems to be carrying a lot of water for the left lately...Since he is the #2 rated advocate for the divided government theory on SI, I can only assume that he thinks the GOP will have healthy gains in the upcoming election in the house & senate....otherwise, I'm at a total loss to explain it....;>)

Don, absolutely easy to explain. Yeah, I am the divided government guy and the polling of the indepenents (see my last post) indicates what I feared. Palin is going to be a non-starter for the people in the middle. Yes, she rallies the base but she makes it much, much harder to get the middle for McCain. Picking her was a dumb, dumb, political move if what he really wanted to do is WIN. The base would have eventually supported him if he picked Romney or another. But picking an unknown only opens the door to revelation after revelation after revelation for the next nine weeks right up to the date the special investigator gives his report on troopergate. One week before the election. Just Great!

If people on this thread think I dislike Palin, you are wrong. I think she is an intriguing person with an remarkable background. Much hotter than Katherine Harris <g>...and nicer! Grat personality and seemingly a super one on one politico.

But the lack of knowledge about her is the danger. The great danger for McCain. It can't be just talked away because the press is all about red meat. It's all new...and the undecideds, the people in the middle, the five percent that could go either to Obama, to McCain or not vote at all....they are the prize.

In my opinion, from a purely political position, McCain has likely lost them. I regret that because, yeah, I wanted him to win....but I think it is less likely now than a week ago.

We'll see. I have been wrong many times as my friends here remind me (although I did predict months ago that GWB would not attend the Republican convention. and, yeah, he could still get up there Tuesday or Wednesday if they REALLY wanted him there...).

It's just about a political decision...not personal, not even about ideology. McCain made a mistake here....JMHO.
