Vintner:
Now: That being the case. Can you, Koan, come up with the parameters of what would define and Obama government (defined as one that controls both houses of Congress)as being restrained and fiscally responsible?

(This is a tall order to be sure--I'm not sure I could either. I'm just wondering if there are some benchmarks we could use to measure the success, or lack thereof, of a Democratically controlled government.)

koan: democracy is a messy affair, like making sausage. The only thing people can do is elect the best people they can and hope they can figure out the best answers.

We have been electing intellectual midgets. Reagan, Ford, both bush's. If the dems had won in all of those elections our country would be in 10 times better shape than it is right now in every conceivable way.

You seem to be looking for something which I do not think exists. History tells us FDR and JFK and Clinton ran good governments. Obama is the only person I know in their league.

Ask yourself who would you want in office if you could choose your perfect person and group of people?
