One party wants to do nothing but alternatives and the other wants to do nothing but drill.

That's not what I'm hearing from the McCain Republicans. I was talking with the Republican candidate, Mark Ellmore, who is taking on N. Virginia's entrenched Democrat, Jim Moran.

I asked him about his energy policy and stated a 3 tiered approach.. increase domestic supplies, reduce demand, and long-term creating of alternatives. That doesn't sound like "drill, drill, drill" to me..

There is a ground swell starting within some parts of the Republican party regarding environmentalism, with much of it taking place within churches (we should take care of God's planet.. etc). But there is also a movement towards energy policy that assists us in reducing our vulnerability to foreign energy dependence.

I'll no more by the middle of the month how serious this candidate is about energy policy reform.
