I attended a speech this woman gave a few months before Katrina hit.

It was, without question, the worst public speech I've ever heard. People were getting up an leaving. The entire speech was this woman bragging about her own "accomplishment" (i.e., becoming the incompetent governor) and it was pathetic.

The several of us, on leaving the event, discussed the speech and everyone there agreed the woman presented as the least competent government official we'd ever encountered.

A few months later, she proved us right.

No, that wasn't the problem at all. Even Bush admitted today, that they were deploying equipment into the region before the hurricane, not after. Now if the ice manages to get to the region instead of ID, MI and MD, it will be a smooth recovery as well.
