Has zero to do with it. The facts:

1. The problems in NOLA with Katrina were vastly the result of an incompetent governor coupled with an incompetent mayor. The incompetent mayor is still present, but the incompetent governor is history and the man now in office is oozing competence and knows what he's doing.

2. While Bush was blamed for the Katrina problem and accepted responsibility, the truth of the matter is that the Bush Administration performed reasonably well. The failure was on the state and local level, both managed by Democrats with about the same level of administrative experience as Obama has.

3. Katrina the hurricane was minimally damaging in NOLA and the brunt of the damage was from Pass Christian along Hwy 90 to Biloxi. The damage in NOLA was a FLOOD that occurred after the hurricane was long gone and declared a "near miss" for NOLA.

The Ninth Ward does not suffer the SLIGHTEST from hurricane damage. If you go through there, as I have numerous times, you will find the houses are still standing and do not suffer hurricane damage. They were destroyed by a flood.

As we have discussed many times before, these are two fundamentally different kinds of problems. You cannot compare, in any way shape or form, this hurricane (where no flood occurred, apparently) with Katrina.

There is no doubt FEMA has really bent over backwards to accommodate this region. To suggest that it is for political reasons is one more case of trying to bash Bush without cause.

I'd like to think they learned something from Katrina but probably not.

How are your folks doing with Gustav?
