The rich may be richer, but in America, the poor are richer too. You have to look at overall standard of living. The poorest folks have more food, transportation, entertaninment, housing and communication options than the poor of the 1920's. Heck the poor of today have more in some respects than the middle class of the 1920's

You where the one who picked the 1920's not me.

As for 40 years ago, well the poorest quintile is also wealthier now than they where back then.

20? At worst the poor are not noticeably poorer, and depending on how you measure things they may be wealthier.

there is no question that the middle class is disappearing

Well your certainly right that there is no question. No need to ask a question about such a bizarre claim. Its just so obviously wrong.

the POVERTY level has increased

The poverty level is down from 1960, and in more recent years has shown no noticeable trend, moving up a bit then down a bit.

Also the income included in the calculation doesn't include non-cash benefits.

And the poverty rate is a moving target. To exceed the poverty rate you have to have a more income over time (in inflation adjusted terms) than you would have to exceed the poverty level in earlier years.

What country are you living in? Unemployment is at a record low. Half the US population is invested in the stock market and millions of Americans own second homes. Doom and gloom Dems can't sell their negative spin any longer.
