Comments re. McCain from a Republican back in February:

McCain in Sudden Physical/Mental Decline?

In recent weeks Senator McCain has seemed to exhibit signs of an accelerating physical and mental decline. His remarks today at AEI seemed especially stumbling and confused. Unfortunately, his years in a Vietnamese prison camp seem to have aged him beyond his years. Physically and mentally he appears at the moment more like an 80-year-old than a 70-year-old.

Given McCain’s history of melanoma, that increasingly prominent tumor-like lump on his left jaw, and what seems to be a rather sudden decline in his faculties, it seems to me unlikely that McCain will be a viable presidential candidate by the summer of 2008. His incapacities will be too apparent, and by then even the most careful and secretive handling by his staff will fail to conceal his precipitous physical and mental decline from the public.
