Henry Luce is rolling in his grave. Claire Booth Luce is positively spinning. The "commies" have taken over, masquerading as New Democrats.

Maybe if the USSR really gets its globe trotting mojo back, the term will come back into fashion. Just wonder how the far left is gonna handle it, cause the Russian Bear ain't coming back talking about the proletariat. They'll come back as an in-your-face fascist dictatorship.

the American left will probably love it.

I used to read Time Magazine during the Reagan administration. My impression of it then was that it was self-consciously trying to find a centrist viewpoint to discuss the news. They tried to balance Rep & Dem viewpoints.

Long gone, the balance.

For example, I have no idea what has happened to Joe Klein. He ought to be an embarrassment to them. He was always liberal and emotional (he fell hard for Bill Clinton and wrote Primary Colors when he recovered) but has now gone right round the bend.
