Even if they make 25k per car (and I have no idea what they make), a couple hundred cars (or even a couple thousand) will never provide enough profit to keep things going without continual cash infusions. It's why almost NO fledgling auto makers have survived over the long run. If Tesla's technology is good enough someone like GM will buy them for it, otherwise they are toast.

PS - The other think is, I suppose there are enough rich guys around to buy this thing for it's novelty factor for awhile, but if you look at the economy in general, sales of Porsche's 911 models are WAY off this year, and the highely optioned four wheel drive Carreras are in the Tesla price range...
