OTOH, it's pretty clear from the democratic debates that he probably won the thing because of his stance on the war... but we can cover that up with whatever I suppose. Obama represented Hyde Park in the Illinois State Senate during the debates on the Iraq war. It was not exactly a profile in courage for him to oppose the war in that seat. Had he supported it, that would have been risky.
