"Obama has no sense of humor at all and, when he "talks tough", he looks ridiculous."

I'm going to go on a little public flight of fancy this morning, about this post. There are two distinct thoughts here, one of which I agree with completely, and one only partially, and I think it's important (obviously, or I wouldn't type all this).

And didn't Sarah Palion do herself proud last night.

On a personal level, Obama looks silly talking tough. He's a skinny guy who DID NOT grow up on the south side of Chicago, not even close (or the west side or the north side either, for that matter). He's not intimidating anybody in person, and when he tries to act the part it's obvious that he has never done it successfully in real life, except maybe with his kids and his students. No problem with that, I'm not all that into intimidation anyway.

However, Obama is a Chicago politician. And you're right, he has no sense of humor, you can see it in his eyes. Even when he's smiling, even when he's laughing. He's smooth, he does the measured, appropriate response, but it's calculated, it's practiced. So, how to reconcile that personal stuff with the public person, to whom people defer. Being a Chicago politician, he's got muscle, he's got friends. That's understood in the neighborhoods he frequents.

Which brings up the 'playing him for a patsy being dangerous for everybody' thing. He should be a college professor or a corporate lawyer. He isn't 'world smart' (a variation of street smart-maybe street smart 301) enough not to be played for a patsy. And he's used to "The Boys" taking care of problems like this. Not a good combination in the position for which he's applying. He might even make a good senator in time, although he will never represent my point of view on anything and I know that.

Enough typing.

She had just the right touch. Obama has no sense of humor at all and, when he "talks tough", he looks ridiculous. Remember when he said he was going to get tough with any attacker? No one paid any attention! No one believed him.

Spengler has Obama's number: long on brains and short on guts.

Really, the more I see of Obama, the more think of career lines he would have aced: college professor, civil rights laywer, writer, motivational speaker.

Whence came the Caesar-like ambition and confidence that made him think he could be Senator, then President, and the waves would part for him so he walk there over dry land? It's not in him to be a leader of men. It's just not. If the Dems weren't in the frame of mind to elevate symbols over everything else, they could have seen it too.
