<<That said, I find it a bit disturbing at the intensity of the Republican emotionality in this race... it's getting very intense, there is some type of fear in them that they don't seem able to control. They're getting real irrational.>>

I sensed that as well. Some level of hatred toward Sen. Obama that was not exactly displayed towards Kerry, notwithstanding the swiftboating.

Is it race? It couldn't be that simple, could it?

Exactly what's been coming to my mind....

It is difficult to gage the people's perception of each candidate while the convention is still taking place. Wait until all the convention rhetoric and nasty remarks have cooled down, and we will get into the issues.

The amazing thing about Obama is that he has been running his campaign under a severe handicap: not only is he considered black (albeit half black), but he is a man, ran against a very skillful and tough woman - Hillary, and now he is being attack but a neophyte Sarah Palin. Obama is walking on eggs, if he is aggressive, there will be backlash. If he is gentle, he is considered not tough enough. To be able to win against Hillary is a remarkable achievement. Obama is smart, and I am confident that he will be able to handle a female attack dog, courtesy of John McCain.
