His idea of a "responsible broker of information" seems to be to mindlessly repeat the line that comes from the campaign.

That's the goal of all screeching about "media fairness" in a campaign. The use of that tack in the primaries was so transparent that I never paid much attention at all, though the people doing it did produce a marginal result in their favor. Not enough to overcome the bigger picture, however.
