"Begging the question" is normally a formal logical term meaning your assuming your conclusion. Its another way to say your using circular logic.

Sometimes its also used to mean presenting evidence in support of a conclusion, when the evidence is less likely to be accepted than the simple straight assertion of the conclusion.

If you mean that it "causes the question to be raised", well obviously it does cause you to raise the question, but there isn't much reason to.

Sarah Palin wasn't a VP candidate until recently, and only had moderate press attention before that. There wasn't much reason to make a big announcement about Bristol's pregnancy, esp. since in the earlier stages of pregnancy its less obvious. In the earlier stages Bristol may even have denied to herself that she was pregnant or not told her mother, and even if her mother did know, why announce it?)

There is no reason to think that anything is being hid here. Even the fact of the pregnancy wasn't hid, just not announced until recently.

They shouldn't have kept it secret in the first place.....

And why did McCain keep the whole notion of Palin as VP a secret?
That's not really the kind of decision that has to be kept under wraps,
in fact it actually helps the decision making process to know something about how the pick will be received.
It just shows McCain to be impulsive, just like Bush Jr.
