obviously the base is energized but he can't win with just that. He sure as hell can't win without it either - excellent pick in that regard.

He's had his seat here in AZ because he was a moderate... "real" Repubicans (so called) here don't like hime and many despise him calling him 2 faced. I don't think the rest of the country that gave him the Republican nomination (because he was practically a dem) knew what their learning now. He has REAL anger management problems (possibly related to his health issues) and probably has done a lot of his "Maverick" stuff out of that to assert himself above what he (rightly?) saw as BS in the rightwing portion of the party rather than work through it. In other words he burned bridges and just ignored that wing rather than work with people and try and get things done... really pissed people off. THis stuff is all old news among people who really know him... some of which will say something, many of which will hold their nose and say nothing. I'm be VERY surprised if a number of them don't say some things publicly. DAK
