Hardly - he needed the base because most of them frankly don't like McCain and probably planned to stay home. Now they have a reason to vote and go out and promote the ticket - this is the best thing he could have done.

"agree that he can't win without the base, and she energizes the base whereas his other choices for VP do not. The problem is she puts off everybody else, particularly women.

If you would make the tiniest effort to discuss this stuff honestly, you wouldn't be writing things with such obvious internal contradiction.

The mean girl establishment particularly hates her. Everyone else is falling in love with her particularly women even if they wouldn't vote for her.

not true, my mom just called she(a life long dem) is pissed at the dems for attacking her, she loved her speech. Sent money to the repubs, she has never done that. Her old friends(all lib/dems) are all fired up because of her and are voting McCain/Palin
