I flipped on the tv today and heard Obama getting asked, just what it was about 'community organizer' that helped prepare him for the Presidency? He answered well, pointing out with some indignation that he had done many things since, civil rights lawyer, state senator, senator, etc.

But I thought to myself, have I heard Obama being asked that question before? I don't think so, 'community organizer' has seemed a magic incantation to display Obama's caring.

I think the magic has gone away.

I get a sense of the Obama campaign that they thought Sarah Palin was a weak spot in the battle line, on whom they could converge and make gains, but they have found to their dismay that she is well-armored. Now they have to retreat and reform.

He worked as a community organizer

Does a community organizer encourage people to prepare for and pursue self sufficiency? Producing stuff others will buy with their earnings?

Or pull folks in as wards of and flacks for the state?
