Re: "not only long winded,"

No doubt! But there is a lot of Alaskan political history to cover. Don't see how all that info (much of it positive) could be compressed too much...

Re: "but probably NOT true... it smells like more baloney,"

Claim by claim it should all be examined critically.

I look forward to that (but I can't detect baloney in electronic form by "smell" <g>).

Certain things are not in any dispute however. (Open book... matter of public record....)

The attempt by Palin to have the town librarian *purge* certain books from the town library is a locally well-known episode. (As is her attempt to fire the librarian when she refused to remove books from the shelf.)

That attempt at governmental censorship (& retribution) is one of the things I like the LEAST about Palin's record in government.

If any of the 'Troopergate' charges stick (& right now I'm inclined to believe that she --- or her team --- likely did attempt to exert improper government influence to aid her sister, not that I have any particular info to back the belief up, but just because it seems a very plausible scenario), then that would be another big negative for her in my book.

Condoning or supporting the Sales Tax increase (and extending the tax to food) is another thing I would not support....

And I CERTAINLY am not a fan of running *deficits*.

Re: "the author of that letter probably doesn't even exist, the letter is not signed except by anne79, where's her phone number or email address?"

As she stated in her WaPo post, she included her last name (but it was redacted by the WaPo because that is their publishing policy for these online comment sections).

She also recommended that people do a simple Google Search to find her, didn't she?

Imagine that plenty of folks (including media) probably will do so, since they most likely will be interviewing about every one of the original 5,000 residents of the town where Sarah Palin was Mayor anyway over the next few weeks. <g>

... Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Thursday blamed supporters of the Democratic presidential ticket for spreading "misinformation and flat-out lies" about her and her family.

But her spokeswoman said Obama's campaign was not responsible, even though a Palin fundraising letter named the Democratic ticket with the words: "the Obama-Biden Democrats have been vicious in their attacks directed toward me, my family and John McCain."

The Obama campaign has raised questions about Palin's qualifications based on her six years as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, and less than two years as governor, but Obama himself has said her family should be off-limits. He also said he would fire any staffer who talks about it.

Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said: "We appreciate the fact that he came out and condemned this kind of personal attack." Asked whether Palin thought Obama or his running mate, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, were personally responsible for the attacks mentioned in the letter, Comella said, "No."

Asked who was to blame, the spokeswoman said, "You want me to tick through all the stuff that's been ticking through all the blogs the past few days? What about the stuff that was on Daily Kos, that rumor that was spread?"....
