Most people don't care if you smoke pot in your home. They don't want anymore drugs legalized because it sends the message to their children that this is OK. Alcohol and nicotine are bad enough and all parents, Christian or not, would prefer their children not become addicted to either of these drugs....or any other drugs.

It's not a moral or a religious issue, Steve. It's a safety and health issue, and I think most churches approach it from that angle. Likewise with casual sex....a health and safety issue....whether hetero or homosexual. In fact, at the moment I can't think of any moral or religious principle that doesn't have a rational health or safety issue behind it.

Non-Christians seem to think that Christians sit around trying to come up with ways for no one to have any fun and so they can appear 'holier than thou' and make everybody feel guilty. The media plays up this image by presenting the stereotypical finger-wagging do-gooder whose personal life is actually a hypocritical mess.

I can't speak for everyone in the Christian Right but I know that generally this is not what's going on in their minds.
