They grow some great weed & cabbage & mushrooms in that area, the only one suitable for farming. Palmer was really the old center. Wasilla was just some gas stations & grocery stores on the highway to Denali. Then the politicians bought land around it & voted to move the capitol there. Never happened while I lived near there. It did bring in a bunch of pipeline yuppies: Palin's bunch. The basic area division was Anch.Times right wing establishment, Anch. Daily News the little liberal counterpuncher who got bigger than the Times A-holes. That was in the 70's, when about 25% of grade schoolers came stoned to school. Fairbanks was miners & heads, along with some students. It was a great state.
