iso: remember the last time we had high unemployment, high (real) inflation and relatively high energy costs? Stagflation? Remember how that ended?

This is not pretty at all.

I think the fed will probably accommodate the pressure to pump with elections just 8 weeks from now. But then at some point, do we need another cigar chomper coming in who cares more about killing inflation than creating a deep recession?

Or will the ginormous money welcome stagflation/deflation as the middle class gradually disappears?

I see two possibilities for how this plays out, and neither are very good from my perspective... but one MUST figure it out if one wants to preserve capital and try to eeeek out some gains sailing into the wind.

Just some thoughts at the end of a very ugly week as I await further marching orders.
