Alaska will be sending an extra 5 bcf from the TransCanada pipeline, and that doesn't even include the near term supply of new nat gas from oil shale. Palin did a nice job negotiating that pipeline for Alaska. I hope McCain and Palin stop drivelling about OCS and start talking about the real oil deposits here in the US.

With this kind of resource threat, OPEC is going to have to stop fucking around with oil supplies to keep people happy at the pump. If they let the oil prices correct to appropriate levels, they might be able to keep new shale resources from coming into the market too soon. In reality, it's game over for OPEC no matter what they do. The US is getting sick of exporting so many dollars to buy oil and nat gas from instable regimes.

Not to get political, but I think the Republicans would act on this new resource far more quickly than the Democrats. The Democrats continue to put up moratoriums on new energy policy every time we turn around.
