I really don't like the library episode. It is counter to the core of my values for I detest censorship in any way, shape or form. Some energetic dumb bunny religious zealot with nice legs and a nice smile who attended a couple of junior colleges who through incredible serendipity might be a heartbeat from the presidency is not going to tell me or anyone else what or what not to read. She's dangerous. I think McCain is a bit smitten with her. He might have a lot of trouble keeping her under control. I see her using her new-found rock stardom to bully McCain into allowing her to become another activist VP like Cheney. I think VPs, like children in the old days, should be seen and not heard. The intelligent design, the creationism, oh, jeez, when will people simply accept that some things are and will likely forever be mysteries and that everyone is entitled to think whatever they wish so long as the separation of church and state is maintained and that this means no teaching of these ludicruous theories for they are backdoor ways of injecting religion into public school curricula. The 1980s hair, the frumpy glasses, the out of style clothes, I really wonder what message such a potentially very attractive and fashionable woman is trying to send. Is she trying to mask her sexiness, her allure and is that part of the allure? I don't know, I get hypocrisy, ruthlessness, intense focus, serious neurotic background, and a bit of religious zealotry out of the whole Palin experience. She could keep a team of shrinks busy for years, IMO. Her description of the Iraq war as a call to do God's will is very scary. We know someone else who heard that clarion call and proceeded to muck up the works in a very serious way. I am not willing to even allow the chance of that happening again. Not that I like Obambi much. I guess I am an Eisenhower conservative. Not many of us left. We are suffering a serious lack of leadership. Where are the present day JFKs, FDRs, Jeffersons, Washingtons, Lincolns, etc., hiding these days when we need them so badly? Why are we being offered up such incredible kooks and mediocrities? Are we getting the leaders we deserve? I don't think so but it certainly seems like it sometimes. Not a word from any of the candidates about the economic problems we face, not a word about regulating Wall St. [the direct source of the current problem thanks to their CDOs and other financial garbage] more effectively [surprise! where does lots of campaign $ come from?], not a word about our debt and the problems and declining standard of living the cost of future entitlements are going to bring....in a word, welcome to the substance-free campaign.
