Krauthammer is still negative and cautious about Palin because he had just stated that McCain should make a safe choice for veep when Fox started reporting about the Palin pick.

I just happened to be watching at the time. His words of wisdom were still lingering in the air when the report sounded.

So I suspect he's a bit chagrined.

Apparently Krauthammer knows something that we, or McCain doesn't - that McCain is on his last leg and Palin will be stepping into the Oval Office in a few short months.

Charles is rarely screwed up in his thinking. But, he sure is on this issue.

Palin is not running for President, Obama is. His creds are the issue, not a VP candidate who, BTW, has more executive experience that Biden, the democrat's VP candidate.

Wake up Krauthammer and smell the coffee!

We are finding out that Krauthammer, like Brokaw et al are never wrong or off the mark. Too bad.

I rarely disagree with Krauthammer....but on Palin, I certainly do. Not only "hope" he is wrong, but also believe he is wrong. She is a talented young woman, and has quite a few accomplishments for her young years....but she is only 3 years younger than Obama, and light years different in style.

Obama's wife Michelle carps about how hard it is to have a career and children.

Palin seems to handle the responsibilities of government and the responsibilities of children and family with much more ease than do the Obamas.

I also disagree with Mr. Krauthammers idea that the Republicans have had an easy time of it during Bush's term....

Republicans won both Senate and House control in 1994, after 40 YEARS of Dem control of both. Most of us aren't so easily forgetful of the years of Democrat Stall, Storm, Accomplish Not Much, and Namecall....

Then per Wiki…..

the 1996 and 1998 elections, Republicans lost Congressional seats but still retained control of the House and, more narrowly, the Senate. After the 2000 election, the Senate was divided evenly between the parties, with Republicans retaining the right to organize the Senate due to the election of Dick Cheney as Vice President and ex officio presiding officer of the Senate. The Senate shifted to control by the Democrats (though they technically were the pluraity party as they were one short of a majority) after GOP senator Jim Jeffords changed party registration to "Independent" in June 2001, but later returned to Republican control after the November 2002 elections.

In the 2006 elections, Democrats won both the House of Representatives (233 Democrats, 202 Republicans) and the Senate (49 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and 2 Independents caucusing with the Democrats) as well as the majority of state governorships (28-22).
