This year's Permanent Fund dividend is a record $2,069.

The dividend, plus a one-time $1,200 "resource rebate" from the state, will be direct-deposited into the accounts of eligible Alaskans next Friday.

Checks for the $3,269 will be mailed to those who asked for their payment that way during the week of Sept. 30, the state has said.

This year's dividend tops the previous record of $1,964 paid in 2000.

The dividend is paid from the investment profits of the Alaska Permanent Fund, a $36 billion oil-wealth savings account.

The resource rebate is being paid from the windfall revenue to the state's treasury this year due to high oil prices and a new oil tax.

The payments are being made to more than 600,000 Alaskans who lived in the state all of last year and who applied by March 31.
