Absolutely, but Alaska has been doing that for years. This was new.

From an economics standpoint, simply giving cash away is not the best use of money. Improved infrastructure, hospitals, schools, etc., are the kind of things that make productive use of that capital for decades.

And this is her Hugo Chavez-like tax program on the oilcos. Not too successful. BP and COP dialed back their Alaska projects as a result.
