I think the maverick angle is genius and it's actually Palin that makes it work. I've contemplated how Democrats might respond if defeated in November, but after the Palin berserkathon, I think it is almost unimaginable.

It really was a brilliant political move to ask her to run on the ticket.

Another unintended consequence of putting Palin on the ticket is that it didn't smother the "Obama lack of experience" issue, it INTENSIFIED IT!

Before, McCain would bring it up, and Oba and staff would ignore it. Now that Palin brought it up in that brilliant speech, he had to respond.

And every time a Dem says, "she's unqualified," the response right back is, "Oh Yeah, how about Obama's experience?" This wasn't happening before. It's made this a major issue.
